Cross-progression is one of the most frequently requested features in Apex Legends. As its name suggests, cross-progression allows you to carry progress and rewards—most importantly, skins and cosmetics—from one platform to another.

Apex is playable on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch with cross-platform play, and cross-progression would allow you to keep everything in one account.

Here’s everything you need to know about Apex and cross-progression.

Does Apex have cross-progression?

Cross-progression has been confirmed for Apex in season 19. Apex developer Respawn Entertainment worked on the feature for years, but hacks and other more urgent issues reportedly slowed them down. Resolving those issues took higher priority, meaning features like cross-progression were moved to the back burner.

Respawn revealed that Ignite will finally introduce cross-progression on Oct. 31 with account merging, meaning players who have switched platforms will get their old cosmetics, currency, and progress back.

How to enable cross-progression in Apex Legends

Cross-progression will be largely automated, with your client automatically alerting you it’s now available. When players with multiple Apex accounts tied to one EA account login after the season 19 update on Oct. 31, they will receive a notification screen about cross-progression, detailing their accounts and giving them a simple command button.

Simply hit the continue button to initiate the cross-progression transfer.

Your account will automatically update to the account with the highest progression level, but you’ll be able to access any leftover skins, Heirlooms, and currencies from your other accounts all in one place now.

There are a few exceptions to this cross-progression account merger. Some items, mostly those specific to PlayStation or Xbox subscriptions, will not be available on other platforms. So while most items should cross over, those will not. These include PS+ Pack items, Xbox Founder’s Edition items, Xbox Gold items, and the P.A.T.H. Legendary skin that’s exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

Any duplicate items or content will also not be refunded, and the content will not appear twice in a player’s inventory.

Additionally, Apex Coins gained on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation accounts will be merged into one wallet, which can be spent together on any of the aforementioned platforms. However, Apex Coins on Nintendo Switch will always remain separate, can only be spent on Switch content, and cannot be merged with the other platforms’ wallets. Likewise, players will only see their merged Apex Coins wallet balance on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, and can only spend the currency on the associated platforms.

Why have I not received my cross-progression prompt?

Although the Ignite gameplay trailer confirmed cross-progression as one of the season’s launch features, it won’t roll out simultaneously for all users. If you open up your game on Oct. 31 and don’t see a cross-progression message of any sort, don’t panic. It might just take a little while longer, but it will happen.

Respawn clarified in a blog post that cross-progression will be rolled out in waves over the coming weeks after season 19’s launch, to ensure stability and avoid account issues for the volume of players trying to use the feature.

Who gets selected to be in each cross-progression wave?

Each wave of cross-progression selects accounts at random. Respawn does not give any preferential treatment to which players are selected for each cross-progression wave, with many partnered streamers and content creators also reporting that they have not yet received the cross-progression notice screen.

How long until everyone gets cross-progression?

Respawn is committed to bringing the feature to all players across all platforms in season 19 but has not announced a definitive date for when cross-progression will be available to everyone.

The EA Help website page on Apex’s cross-progression states the first waves began rolling out at season 19’s start on Oct. 31, and will take a few weeks to become available to all players.
